Cheers. I had a Hallowed a week or two ago. Up the irons!
I just weighed my Anthrax on vinyl collection. They're all first pressings.
Fistful of Metal = 104 grams
Spreading The Disease = 113 grams
Armed And Dangerous EP = 112 grams
Among The Living = 114 grams
I'm The Man/Sabbath Bloody Sabbath EP=113 grams.
So Armed And Dangerous doesn't stand out as being lighter than the others, and the debut album is the lightest by far.
When you're talking vintage Anthrax, it doesn't get more vintage than this, their first recording.
Anthrax - Soldiers Of Metal/Howling Furies 7" 45rpm
1983 Megaforce Records MRS-01
This from Discogs.
Only released in the US; limited to 3000 copies. This was supposed to be released as a 5 track EP, but was aborted after line up changes. The B-side, "Howling Furies", is from the previous demo recorded with Greg D'Angelo on drums, and is the only official Anthrax recording to feature his work. Later these 2 songs were released on the UK press of the "Armed And Dangerous" EP. The 2 songs on the single are different from the ones that later were recorded on their first full length.
Interesting, thanks for the extra work put in
I had to know. It was eating me up inside. LOL.
I would have sworn Armed and Dangerous would weigh the same as a flexi disc
EDIT: Just got home from work and weighed my copy of Armed and Dangerous......96 grams!!!!
They must have been running low on vinyl the day yours was pressed.
There are a few different pressings. Is yours Megaforce MRS 05?
Does your jacket have a barcode on the back. Some MRS 05's do. Mine doesn't.
Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
It is MRS 05, first pressing without barcode. As you say, they were low on material and I got the light weight runt of the group
Well it's only 8 grams difference but it must be pretty significant for you to be so aware of it.
Don't play it too much or the stylus might start playing both sides at once.
My copy of Armed and Dangerous feels like it's similar to the records of the time.
Paradise Lost singles collection box set.
Iron Maiden - Brave New World
2000 Columbia CK 62208
Holocaust - The Nightcomers
1980 Phoenix Record And Filmworks PSP LP 1
Very much an early Iron Maiden wanna be band but in 1987 (!), with some of The Damned like vocals in places; Intrinsic.
Hit The Streets is a decent track, as is Wasted Life.
Still can't for the life of me remember why I bought this back in '87.................
One of the most energetic shows I have ever seen was watching Danko Jones in Toronto, many years back. Raw, pure energy, with a neck attached on a bungee strap!
