What's a good starting point for King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard? I've only heard a few songs here and there. And they put out 5 albums in 2017 alone.
I'd start with "Float Along, Fill Your Lungs" and "I'm in Your Mind Fuzz". They were really hit and miss with the five new ones this year. IMO they missed most if the time.
This Australian group seems to have the heavy psyche thing down. Record is tough to find in the states.
The Black Angels Death Song Partisan Records This just came in today. The latest (2017) from the band. I splurged for the double-vinyl since it was only about 5 bucks more than the CD. It came with a poster and download card. Like Indigo Meadow, the band seems to still be veering away from the heavy, droning fuzz sound and becoming a little more trippy and atmospheric. Nothing on here that will knock your socks off but still a pretty good collection of songs, IMO.
I got turned on to that band from someone here at AK. Got that record and been looking for one other of theirs. My favorite thing about AK is finding new stuff to listen to.
I saw the Dandy Warhols do this in the 90's with about 40 others when they did a quick side trip to Sydney from Brisbane. I was straight and this 20 minute long aural assault was still a mindbender. The lighting tech. went nuts. First time a lot of us had heard it as their first album wasn't available in Australia.
