I'm having a really hard time finding the right amplifier filter capacitors for my Sansui 5050. They are 63v 6800uf. If anybody has an idea of where to look I would very much appreciate it!
Mouser has plenty of options, this is just an example, but a good part if it's the proper dimensions.
I'm guessing the stock parts are 35mm diameter by looking at some pictures, and snap-in type looking at the PCB they are mounted on. Measure to make sure you get the correct lead spacing, 10mm is common.
It doesn't need to be 63V. You can skip to the next notch, 80V, 100V whatever, as long as it's not lower.
Also parts connexion have some sought after Nichicon KG's with the exact specs you need (just verify the can size). http://www.partsconnexion.com/capacitor_ele_nichicon_kg.html
No, that's a perfectly good reason to replace them. It gives you an opportunity to upgrade to larger capacity. Sometimes folks are chasing a problem and for whatever reason focus on those caps.
