I'm not a fan of Steely Dan, being a contrarian. Metheny is a musician who has (IMHO) always done his best work when he is under a stronger musician's lead (Gary Burton, Charlie Haden for example, even Lyle Mays). But I forgive him of his self-indulgence because of his open disgust with Kenny G.

Being a new guy here I can appreciate your response to my Methany question. I'm wondering if you can point me towards some Methany that doesn't sound like over processed studio wankerey, in college we had three roommates, one liked Methany, two didn't. I'm trying to convince the other guy that he's not the Boston of jazz.
