Picked this up at the flea market this afternoon, wondering if any of the AK wizards know what this is to -

It's got no serial number and I don't remember any ampex reel to reels that match - This thing weighs 46 lbs

Wild guess -- a 35mm mag film recorder add-on for a film camera. Haven't seen one, and didn't see any pics in a quick search. Can you see a model number? I wouldn't put it back out on the flea market table, though...

Unfortunately no model number,

I picked it up to display, thought the little glass window was cool

I'm going with what Chip Chester said. A 35mm film movie camera was big bucks and this would have extended the life of a piece of gear that was going to be quickly obsoleted.

I'd wager it's the sound head of a theater projector, similar to this IPC Simplex unit (between the upper magazine and the picture head).

Love the title reads just like storage wars folks
going for a professional appraisal. Their opening line at the retail shop is just what you titled this thread.

There's one like this currently listed at 750$ on the well-know auction site. Now the 3rd part of the O.P questions has been answered too.
