All of the 50's & 60's Nashville session players were highly respected by the Jazz musicians of that era I know and knew. Jimmy Bryant and Hank Garland both were favorites of Country as well as Jazz players.

From a studio/session guitarist perspective, Dann Huff is unsurpassed. Madonna, Whitney Houston, Whitesnake ('Here I Go Again'), Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Lonestar,... just to name a few.

On guitarist Dann Huff: I have been reading about this cat for years and 'tis generally agreed he's among the best session players of the mid 80s-mid 90s era. Quite versatile, as evidenced even by the "short list" of artists w/ whom he's worked you included in your post.

I haven't checked out the entire thread, but I'll throw Joe Pass into the ring if he hasn't been mentioned before.

Even if he has, I'll mention him again! :D

Those are all great, Scott. I had kinda forgotten what a fine finger-pickin' stylist Pass was as it has been a while since I last watched him play. Top drawer stuff all the way. Thanks for the posts.
