    Can we please have more "now playing" posting like this and less name checking of great guitar player posts. After all this is a playlist per the OP. It's more just fun to see what people are actually playing and see where the power of suggestion takes us.

    Both of these guys were in Oscar Peterson's band at different times in the early 50's. I was a huge fan of Barney but Herb never really caught my attention until I heard him doing note for note solos at amazing speed with Oscar on a live recording done in 1953. After that I began paying closer attention to him and seeking out his recordings. This duet is a masterpiece:

    If you haven't heard Trevor Rabin play "Solly's Beard" it is definitely worth your time to check it out. Heard him do this solo at a Yes show back in the 80's, blew me away.
