Using a Dynamic Range Expander

I once hooked up a dbx 120 ahead of a 300 watt bridged Sony ES powering a JBL B380... let me tell you, that certainly livened things up! Wasn't obvious until the right content came along and then the B380 woke up the room, no the whole neighborhood

DBX 3BX Series 2 arrived yesterday and having fun with it. Really enjoy the subtle differences it makes even at the 1/2 way levels.
Livens up my records, especially the live stuff.
Next up is a 120.
Wondering if it's worth joining Bartertown for these things?
I'm just a hopeful Audiophile with 30 years of records and CD's on a tight budget.
