I spoke to Richard Vandersteen last week about my 2C's, and the rotting foam vs everlasting butyl. He admitted they kept no records to go on.

"If yours had the foam," he simply said, "they would have rotted 15 years ago."

So — if they didn't rot already, then they won't.

Thanks for the update. Another trick i learned for the rear driver is that it is very close to the sock material so it is very easy to locate and run your finger over the the surround. You'll know right away whether its there ir crumbling under your finger.
