Hard to give an overall view when there are so many different artists - I'll just give a short opinion for each (opinions are mine and subject to revision, refinement, reinterpretation each time I listen again...)
1. Wheel's on Fire - Guster B+ if my memory serves me well...
2. King Harvest - Bruce Hornsby A- a little too tight and smooth but that's Bruce!
3. It Makes No Difference - My Morning Jacket B+
4. I Shall Be Released - ALO , Jack Johnson F - no feeling for this song whatsoever!
5. The Weight - Lee Ann Womack A- I don't usually care for her work but she NAILED this one!
6. Chest Fever - Widespread Panic B Good job on a TOUGH song to do...
7. Up on Cripple Creek - Gomez B
8. Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - The Allman Brothers Band C - A natural for the Allmans, but could have benefitted from a few more takes...
9. Stage Fright - Steve Reynolds B-
10. Rag Mama Rag - Blues Traveler B+ the harp is great, of course.
11. Whispering Pines - Jakob Dylan, Lizz Wright B+
12. Acadian Driftwood - The Roches B-
13. Unfaithful Servant - Rosanne Cash B Good but sounds like it belongs on her CD, not here
14. When I Paint My Masterpiece - Josh Turner D- this is so twangy it sounds like a Mighty Taco Bar-B-Q commercial
15. Life Is a Carnival - Trevor Hall D Who is this guy?
16. Look out Cleveland - Jackie Greene C OK
17. Rockin' Chair - Death Cab for Cutie B Good closer.
All in all though, it makes want to get my turntable working to spin the vinyl versions I bought long ago. Or maybe to stick The Last Waltz in the DVD player. Not a bad buy for $6.95 at Yourmusic.com
