I'm not sure if I like it or not (I'd be happy if I got the pair)
I'm partial towards the old look.
If I liked the sound (I suspect strongly that'd be the case) I'm sure the looks would grow on me.
Did anyone notice if the pre had a remote?

Unknown-1.jpeg Unknown.jpeg I don't mind the looks of the C-70. But I would rather have a C-22 III. At least it has a separate balance control and a mode selector which the C-70 does not. As for that thing. With its tube cover on it looks like something from prima luna. Wheres the Chrome chassis or stainless. Where the Chrome Mac emblem. Why build and under powered amp that you can't combine the channels. I'd rather save $3000 and have two 275's. Oh I realize the 2152 is 7 db quieter, but if I am interested in signal to noise, buy two 301's. or 2301's. At least those amps almost have enough power to start to drive Macs speakers. They look like Mac amps. Changing looks just for the sake of change doesn't impress me.

You can see the Italian influence on the new amp. I'm sure they will sell, but like in the days when SS was first introduced, those of us that love our Macs will now hold on to them longer as we will see our older pieces become even more valuable.
I rather a MC 2000 at least it looks like Mcintosh

According to another article, the price of the complete system is $22,000.

Available separately for $15,000 for the MC2152 and $7,000 for the C70.

    It does.

I think they should have kept the chrome chassis. Time will tell...

The tube cage is awful! Looks like a cheap, bicycle basket. Crazy they designed such a beautiful amp then finished it off with a cheap wire cage. Gonna have to run it naked all the time....

The early MC240 tube cage I never cared for.

Since they are limited production and expensive, I'm thinking they will mostly end up in the hands of well-heeled collectors.

The 2152 looks similar in style to a Luxman tube amp... JMHO.

I'm sure the performance of the C70 and MC2152 will be nothing short of stellar, but I do have a few minor critiques.

It seems the C70 is designed for users that will be using a turntable as their primary playback unit; otherwise, why are there two dedicated knobs strictly for that purpose? I think a more useful feature would have been a variable loudness / balance knob and mode selector on the front panel.

The MC2152 would be more aesthetically pleasing if it had a stainless steel or black glass front end. Of course, there would have to be meters in place if glass were there. But the curved, carbon fiber styling diminishes the traditional "McIntosh" look. It doesn't appear to be a "hi end" unit.

The mid-production a little better, finally got it right in the late production.

I agree though, that cage is designed to be left in the box.

Yuk! Even the Chinese can style better than that. And that wire basket tube cover? Sorry but I rate it an epic fail.

I do LOVE the loudness switch on my C22. I use it often, and it sounds GREAT. Agree, big miss on the C70.

You will cry when McIntosh put leather cover on these amps. It’s Italian thing.
