Vintage European Classic & Sports Cars, GTs

@HarmanKardon The use of the term Batmobile indicates the one with the aerodynamics installed on the car. The splitters on the fenders, front air dam, roof and rear spoilers. Sorry you don't like the term but it makes a distinction to me. Wanna have fun, take a CSL out on a track with a very light rain. Friend loaned me his CSL when I returned to CA for a visit and there was a track day at Sears Point Raceway That car was a handful with good summer rubber and no wet tires to use.

Thanks for your comment and clarification.

"Ford" Taunus P3 17M circa 1960-1964. In my neiberghood. Now it lays under a hood on another street.
The black car from behind it was an "S.E.A.T.". I don't think it's any longer around here (I'll give a look anyway).

Here is my 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo......Modified 2.8 stroker motor putting out 422bhp on the dyno:)View attachment 1137356 View attachment 1137357
Funny story about this car. My dad was a jokester for sure, on my 16th birthday, 1988, my mom and I met him at the River Room restaurant in Georgetown SC my favorite place at the time. Pulling in I see a nice new red 944 turbo parked up front. Over dinner my dad slides me a set of keys with a pretty leather key fob embossed with the Porsche logo and says happy birthday. I literally almost crapped my pants, I think I just got the car, but even better, that was in the movie 16 Candles. This wasn’t to far fetched given my sister got a 1967 911s, white, black perforated leather seats, Nardi wheel, wicker mats, Webasto top, as her first car. We go to leave and dad grabs the keys and gets a chuckle. Luckily I was gifted with the sense of humor to think it was pretty funny and not get butt hurt like a brat. Turns out one of his buddies hurt his ankle so they traded cars for a few weeks, dad had a BMW 535i auto at the time.
So it doesn’t sound too ostentatious the 911 my sis got in 1981 was $3600 about the price of a Civic. Although there aren’t any 81 Civics worth about 200k today.

Great story Justgotohm....Thanks for sharing:thumbsup:

WOW. Love the fact that 'foreign cars' were so rare on the (U.S.) roads in those days they were something of a novelty. And your dad had the sense to wear his safety belts long before they became common, much less commonly used.

Two knockout stories in a row here!

Very nice. There's something to be said for keeping them close to stock as well. I can't imagine what a blast 220hp in a mini would be for the occasional twisty freeway on-ramp blast.

About the only fun we have in sports (or sporty) cars anymore! Fortunately for me, I now live very near the countryside where there are still curvy, hilly roads not yet clogged with SUVs braking to 10mph for every gentle curve lest they roll over. But around town or in the suburbs, forget it.

Nice SLC, Johnno. We don't see too many of those.

Yep...the amount of space inside the original Mini was nothing short of a miracle. I'm 6'-3" and had no trouble fitting in. In America we have far more of the new Minis than we ever had of the old ones, but I spent a lot of time in the UK where (as you doubtless know) they're something like a religion!
