Vintage Test Gear

Just because I haven't seen this thread anywhere else on the forum, I decided that I should start it...

I'm curious to know how many of us are using vintage tube-type test gear and what experiences (good or bad) have resulted.

I personally have 2 old Tektronix scopes. One is a 547 and the other a 531. I use the 547 at my own bench and have the 531 set up at another location where I sometimes have need for a scope. Both are quite reliable and the only repairs they've ever needed were the result of someone other than myself having moved them (a couple of tubes got cracked). The advanced age of tubes, pots and switches tends to complicate calibration. Once calibrated, thougfh, they don't drift much in the 6-month maintenance intervals.

My Precision Apparatus signal and sweep generators also work well for me. I use the dial scales to get them into the ballpark, then I use a frequency counter to fine-tune them.
