    Just thought I would share

I absolutely love this little 14 watt push pull EL84 amplifier with matching AM/FM stereo tuner.
I also have the matching tube stereo reel to reel model 740

I bought it years ago for $160 with a 1416 mono FM tuner. I upgraded to the 1465 FM stereo tuner
This amplifier has a magnetic phono input

I recapped the amp and had the tuner FM multiplex serviced and they work just wonderfully great
I left the loudness circuit as original

    All original tubes
    EL84 and 6AU7

These little 2-way sterling bookshelf speakers sound sweet after a simple recap

No hum and all the pots track perfectly

I run all my vintage gear @ 110vac via a Variac. Vintage gear deserves vintage voltages
Really a great little sleeper amp that looks cool and sounds all EL84ish

    you should get one

I love it - those amps sure are great looking. Very 60s for sure. I'll keep an eye out for 'em!

My introduction to tube goodness was a VM 1448 amp and the same tuner, found at a flea market for $60. Really sweet.

That's pretty cool. Do you have pictures of the matching reel to reel?

Now all that's left to do is build a matching enclosure for that little cooling fan! ;)

All questions of valuation belong in the Dollars & Sense forum. Ask your question there.

P.S. The New Gear - Values forum is not for questions of valuation (what's it worth type questions). It's for discussion of new equipment that offers great bang of the buck, as in items that punch well above their price point.

I just wandered down here and found your system....which I think is gorgeous!

A few years ago I tracked down a 1448 that I tweaked to death then sold to move on to the next project. I always regret selling it...
