Well, Christmas is thankfully over with.

Thank the Lord & Little Fishies, too. Did it all seem even more annoying than it was last year, or was I just in a more sulphurous humour than normal ? One thing that REALLY got my goat was how the bilious bestiges who pick out music to get us to buy shyte we have no use for discovered the Great One, Mr C, aka Perry Como. I think I saw some dreadful ad for doggy anti-itch lotion slathered all over the toob. A POX on thee & thine, you bestiges ! How DARE you defile the memory of the great Mr C. ?!? Oh, & of course, they HAD to further screw things up by adding a totally out of place hip hop/ Thumpa-wumpa bass track, revolting even on modern "Music", much more so on something from circa 1954. And I also think that some ads are cute, & clever, but after they've been ground into yr brain half a gazillion times, they lose ALL their cute & cleverness. BTW ,what Christmas tune absolutely makes you cringe in utter horror ? That one that goes "Up on the rooftop, tick tick, down thru the chimney comes ol' Saint Nick, Nick, Nick.... Click Click, Click as I load my shotgun, you loathsome so & so.... Mbwahahahahaha....

Oh chit, St. Nick left Sandy a 10 gauge under the tree this year. (grin)
How're you, ya old cuss?

I like Christmas. Not the commercialism but the music. There is some really nice music written for the season.
Mrs Badger, not so much but I like it. :music:

For me, it's the damn Chipmunks songs. Thank godness the 90's are done and these don't go as often any more.

Other than that, Sandy, you and I are different in this regard.

I don't watch TV and my Christmas was a little different.

I refrained from my annual nasty rant here on the board, spared everyone and probably kept myself from being kicked off the site entirely.
Yeah, I felt like we got hammered worse than years past too.
Ugh!

As far as I know, Mr C. would make an exemplary personage for ANYONE to pattern his/her life after. NEVER a hint of a scandal, never hit a sour note, no hanky-panky w/another woman, by all reports was as nice of a fellow as he looked like he would be. Compare that w/FAR too many in the entertainment field nowadays-They're NOT happy unless they have several scandals brewing simultaneously, & the local cops wanna have a word w/him... Plus, were it not for the wonder of Autotune and or similar doo-hickies, a bunch of todays big shots would be back flippin burgers at Mickey Dees. Don't get me wrong, there IS a lot of talent out there today, but there is sadly, way too much needless self-destruction.

One of life's little joys is riffling thru thrift store console records to find well cared for fondly remembered time capsule gems.

There was a Gulf station on the corner of the street where my dad's plant was & he always had scads of those Colombia Masterworks Christmas albums. from the Sixties. THEY were what my parents played at Christmas. The old guy was an elder in our church, a neat old guy, he & his wife were both big-time bird watchers, as was my mama. One of 'em would get some sort of oddball bird in their yard & would burn up the phone lines calling all the other bird nuts in town about it. Once Mr Max & his wife had a "Woody Woodpecker" pay a visit, & you'd have thunk the 2nd coming had happened. It tore up quite a bunch of lawn furniture, but they were in #7th heaven over that thing...

I had a red headed woodpecker frequent my yard a couple of years ago.

It was exciting, mostly because of it's hugeness and bright colors.
