Well, its been almost 24 Hours...

...And nary a Peep from the revelers in Novi...Did they all get Drunk, get in a big Cussfight, & Kill each other ? Or are the systems there so incredibly great, they haven't been able to Come Up for Air yet ? Guys, we'd LIKE to know a LITTLE of what's goin' on...Pretty please, w/Sugar on top ?!? (grin) -Sandy

Sandy, it was awesome. I have hundreds of photos to upload, but I won't be able to do it today; Mrs. Wiggy and I are heading for the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival to take more photos.

However, in the interest of giving you a taste, here's some video I shot. Hope it helps take the edge off!

I took a little Flip video cam along to experiment with... some rooms are too dark and I should probably get the hosts to talk about/explain their systems (but music and crowds kind of prevented this).

Loaded all my crappy photos and videos onto photobucket here:

Here's the video from the Bogdan audio room (click to open):

Who is in the 2nd pic? I have yet to meet anyone in person on AK and would like face-to-name action.

Thanks Erik!

When I looked at the first pic I was thinking,.. Holy Cow, that dude looks just like Michael Berryman.

That is Michael Berryman, actor known for his role in The Hills Have Eyes. There was a horror movie convention, Motor City Nightmares, happening on the other side of the hotel. Sid Haig, Ken Foree and Tony Todd could be found wandering the halls as well.

Well... let me tell you something. I'm a big horror movie fan myself and frequent a lot of the related websites and cons. I was surprised when we pulled in to the hotel and saw that the Motor City Nightmares show was happening the same weekend. I had no idea. They obviously didn't do any promotion at all for it. So, yes, I wouldn't be surprised if he had more fun checking out AKFest. ;)

I had a great time at the show. Friday night started in the SMAC room with some mellow listening while the pros guys arranged the room for sound, dialed in subwoofers, made a trip to the store for cables, and the like. After that I headed over to Kegger and Squidwards room and rocked with them until almost 4AM. They brought some little garage sale speakers that blew my mind. I now have an appreciation for passive radiators and will be looking for a pair to play with.

Kegger: Don't worry, if I see the model you are looking for I will let you know first. :)

Saturday morning I roamed around the show and listened to a bunch of systems. There wasn't a bad one in the bunch. My horizon moved further away as to how good a system can sound. I thought I was close with my rig. No way. I'm just starting on the trek.

After listening to rigs I headed over to the SMAC room to work my two hour shift. That was a fun time too. We had a solid stream of guests and I invited them to play music that they brought along. That was a lot of fun and enlightening. Some of the more memorable music was Tibetan meditation bells that made Dennis' Heil AMTs ring like nothing I've ever heard, a song by Michigan actor Jeff Daniels, some cello music, some jazz, and some blues. All of it was beautiful to listen to.

At about noon Bob switched in his DIY reflex design. They played the Doobie Brothers "Takin' it to the Streets" in a way that almost made me emotional. It was that good and the occasional bass guitar twang really popped. It's an aspect of the song that I never heard before.

It was also nice meeting many people from AK and enjoying a few cold ones with them.
