Mounted the Grado ME+ mono cartridge today. Listened to a Erroll Garner mono Columbia 6 eye album. I can't believe how much quieter the groove noise is! Sounds like a new album! Much more black background! Erroll's piano playing really is more intimate! The Grado ME+ gives you layers of mono sound from front to back. First I mounted it on my Technics SL-1650. It hummed a bit on the last track, I could have lived with the slight hum. Then I mounted on my belt drive Technics SL-B3 and it doesn't hum at all! Took the whole afternoon to get the setup the way I wanted it! Didn't have time to wash albums! Have to go out and run an errand. I'll be back a bit later to spin stuff! Definitely going to spin some Beatles mono albums when I get back!

But seriously, I'm thinking about a mono cart. I have a good handful of mono pressings between old 6eye Columbia, Beatles and Byrd's. Probably worth the investment.
