Those $5 speakers look great!
C2rice, you get my vote for 'Best Laugh In A While.' I got a major 'visual' to go with the "turd in the punch bowl" line.
Er...yeah...um...well, that ain't good.
Agreed Ted. I never saw a mean spirited post on this thread ever. Maybe a poorly worded one or two, and they were both my posts, so whatever.
Thank you! Those old paper cone drivers (especially the tweeters) sounded OK but a little harsh - nothing you'd want to listen to for an extended period of time.
The cabinets are pretty nice, though... large well made towers, real walnut veneer, etc. so I'm hopeful my modest upgrades will breath some new life into them
Keeping my powder dry...
Radiohead – In Rainbows. CD 2007
Felt like listening to this hard rocking classic from 1980 again... AC/DC - Back In Black [first CD release 1986 Atlantic 16018-2]
Erm, yeah. This may have been one purchase too many. Some great stuff in here, though, like this one:
I'm very surprised to find that I'm still as sad as I am about Chris Cornell's death (sad might not be the right word but I'm not sure what is). I wasn't a raving fan or anything, but I did like his stuff and was a fan of his voice and vocal style. I loaded up my ipad with his stuff (Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog, and solo) last night and was listening on headphones when I fell asleep. When I came upstairs to work on my desktop I felt compelled to load my winamp playlist with Cornell FLACs. Listening to Badmotorfinger now.
It's available on WITHOUT A NET from a 1989 live show.
To say that these Radio Shack/RCA 40-5016's are impressing is an understatement. I've never had an audiophiles ear or budget for that matter, but I know what I like, and I'm totally digging these...can't wait to hear me some ELP on these.
It's also available on ROCKIN' THE RHINE from a 1972 show in West Germany. I also have a live version from DICK'S PICKS Vol 16 from a Nov. 1969 show.
If you'd like, FOH, PM me and I'd be glad to send you a cd-r of all 3 live versions of CHINA CAT SUNFLOWER.
Great pics Frank! Keep'em coming
Another awesome pic! What camera are you using? They are of such quality, they really are deceiving, they look like the size of a paperback book!
New life is guaranteed. The cab's are massive and should resonate well with your upgrades.
