If the rest of the lyrics don't give away what's giving him his smile, the judge's name sure oughta.

"When I woke up this morning, things were lookin' bad
Seem like total silence was the only friend I had
Bowl of oatmeal tried to stare me down... and won
And it was twelve o'clock before I realized
That I was havin' no fun

But fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun

Last time I checked my bankroll,
    It was gettin' thin
Sometimes it seems like the bottom
Is the only place I've been
I Chased a rainbow down a one-way street dead end
And all my friends turned out to be insurance salesmen

But fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun

Well, I sat down in my closet with all my overalls
    Tryin' to get away
From all the ears inside my walls
    I dreamed the police heard
    Everything I thought... what then?
    Well I went to court
And the judge's name was Hoffman

Ah but fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun
Well done, hot dog bun, my sister's a nun"

Don't have much Kinks material at my disposal, MacT. But that one album satisfies the itch more often than not.

AXS TV is doing an evening of The Who. Classic Albums: Who's Next followed by the film, The Kids Are Alright. Rebroadcast at midnight.

(it's my only Hendrix album. I could do without the interviews that end each side)

Nice remastering on this one. CD sounds great.

I might squeeze another one in before bed. But pretty soon, I'll be
    looking like this:

This artist needs no introduction. Her name speaks for itself.

    Or the Spanish Fandango
    That he loved so well?
    Did you love John Hurt?
    Did you shake his hand?
    And did you hear him
    Play his Candy Man?

    We picked some together
    John, Merle and me
    Like a talking to Casey
    And ol' Stagger Lee
    Don't ya bet your money
If you can't afford to lose
    Man, you should've heard him
    Play them Monday Morning Blues

    Could hardly find
    My monday morning shoes

They had a lot of good albums, Salisbury is fantastic too and then Demons and Wizards which was considered by the band their masterpiece, their Machinehead. I saw The Magicians Birthday tour at the Fox theatre in Long Beach .ca. I was on Lsd,amazing concert Lee Kerslake was crammed into his drum kit and played the drums with robotic efficiency, Ken Hensley's moog was blasting holes into the darkness and we sat right behind the mixing board. Gary Thains hulking figure coming up to the end of the stage thumping the bass with a grin from ear to ear. The lead vocalist who's name escapes me was spot on. Gotta tell Vinyl is the way to go with Look at Yourself cause the import cd is dreadful.

Ok Layla motivated me to get off my ass and take a group shot. I honestly do not think I have heard anything Eric Clapton has done I did not like

No need to apologize. Bare feet are almost as common on this thread as DARK SIDE OF THE MOON.
