Got inspired to clean the face plate of my Phase Linear 2000 series 2 preamp. Since I brought home a Sony Str365 about a week ago I now have a hodgepodge of pieces to assemble a working system. I hope everyone gets a good laugh. A throw away pc I installed Linux Cub on, a Lepai 2020(under $25), a Pioneer TT(PL 570 p-mount$5.99), a Proton 440 tuner($10) and some Infinity Qe boxes(with crossovers-Free) with PE woofers($13 each) and phenolic ring tweeters( had laying around) and my Phase Linear that has been in the closet for at least 10 years.View attachment 1016016 View attachment 1016010 View attachment 1016017

That Phase Linear is a lovely piece. Glad to see it finally came out of the closet.

Unfortunately it's going back in. Sounds like crap. I guess it needs a serious recap. I use to run it with a Marantz model 15 amp.

Well it's official. The Phase Linear sounds like crap. Needs a recap at the very least. Lepai direct Even swapped in some old cheapy Pioneers. Time to drag out the ART phono pre.

Well-known audio designer Bob Carver was head man at Phase Linear before he created his own Carver brand. The Model 2000 preamp was Mr Carver's attempt at surround sound.
