What are you Listening To Right Now? - and more

Thanks my friend. Yeah it's still a work in progress. The colors came popping through in that pic. I'll finish it one of these days. Can't find any time coupled with energy to get it done. We lost several days due to rain at my landscaping job so now we're trying to get caught up. Nine trees to plant tomorrow plus mulching and sod cutting. I'm totally beat when I get home from that job.
You musy be getting old!

Well so far it looks great! It caught my eye when your post appeared! The colors look great!

Landscaping huh? I worked for TruGreen Chemlawn/lawn care all through college. I remember my parents punishing us with yard work as a teen, and my mom having a green thumb would always be have us weed out her flower beds. I remember bitching that once I'm older I'll never do yeard work again... story of my life... :)

The funny thing is I live inner city now, and I'd love to have a lawn... I'd settle for a back yard...

Kind Regards,
John

He's playing here at one of the casinos. I've heard his stuff on YouTube.
In spite of negative views by an acquaintance I enjoyed this cd. I borrowed this from Wikipedia "From 1995 on, Shepherd took seven singles into the Top 10, and holds the record for the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Charts with Trouble Is..."
I will be looking for more KW Shepherd

Some albums just don't sound as good as the vinyl copy. I do have the CD, and it's great, but it lacks the warmth the LP has...

I usually am not a format stickler, if it sounds good it's played, and I tend to listen to all formats, but there are a few of my favorite albums that just don't compare to the vinyl version... This is one of those albums for me...

I'm also loving my new speakers, I recently let go of my BW 640s, and some 686s, went to a set of Snell Ks that are quite impressive, but now back to British speakers, there is just something special about the Quads, I'm really interested to know what the difference is between the 77 series and the remake of the "classics". I know the original 77-11Ls image like a pro, and the lower end is verry accurate.. I'm interested in finding out what's changed with the newer sets. placement was key on the set but now that I have them placed I keep finding myself grinning like a damn fool. lol :)

Kind Regards,
John

Awesome, and my amp/CDP both have the DSD setting, I've not played the SACD Brothrs in arms in a good while. I'll have to give it a go in a day or so, as I just listened to it on vinyl.

As for the CDs how can I tell who copy I have? Any markings? I have an older copy... not a rerelease.. let me dig it out!

Forgot I dug it out.. I have all the artwork as well, but I'm quite sure it's an early run..

Is there a way to tell if it's a 1st or 2nd release?

I remember when I first got a CD Player in 1983. There were many CD's where I thought - this sound flat-out sucks! So, i'd put the vinyl on and all of a sudden, back in sonic bliss. Then as time went on and I got better and better CD Players/ DAC's I found that happened much less often. Agree that still today there are several "standard" CD's that still sound "bland". As I replaced more and more of the "bland" CD's with MFSL, Audio Fidelity, DCC, etc... type CD's problem solved. I used to have a pretty great vinyl collection - with many original pressings of many of the "favs". I wish I still had it - never could find it after the big "D" in 2008. Pretty sure she sold it and most likely for pennies on the dollar. I'm most certain if still had my vinyl and a TT I would be listening to tonight. I miss the smell, process "ritual", the fun that all that goes with vinyl.
