Dusty inspired me to find this in the racks as tonight's project is dialing in a Sumiko Pearl cart on the Dual.

Nice combo, curious about any reflections on the Pearl, matchup with the Dual.

Tale of 2 carts and 2 tables while listening to Sketches of China and ELO tonight.
Resurrected the Dual 721 from under a foot stool from 8 mos. ago and placed on an empty shelf built for a Pioneer
Which is SUPER sensitive - tap the shelf and its skips sprung sensitive- touchy where i live.

I do not care for the propietary "sled" mount system Dual used instead of the 1/2" mnt but their full auto tables are Toyota/Honda relaible it seems.
Their DD table motors are stout and everything works on this table.
A Pearl and a Shure V15 II both work here but they are rolled off on the highs some.
Soundstage is good with Sennheisers and the Shure has a meatier midrange and softer bass.
Background rumble on the 721 is @ -58db on Audacity input sensitivity.
Both are still co runner-ups to a simple belt drive Pioneer PL115 with a Grado blue to an old NAD preamp.
Well thats my rant.
They don;t call me Irish for nothing when we get going.

Yes agree. It tracks very well and is VERY good for footfall and plith isolation compared to enything else I ever herd in my wood floor place.Sorry didn't see your mini review...my Dual tracks and holds better than any TT I've ever had, and at a lighter weight, footfalls never jump the grove..just that and the warm sound win my vote..
YES!!!!!!!!!
Wharfys are back in action....I sanded and refinished both...they came out really nice!

And worth every penny. You got a steal at $130 Mac-T!Btw, anyone who is still procrastinating about purchasing the ELP FANFARE boxset, fughetaboutit. Just checked the Amazon site. Two weeks ago I was able to procure it at the very reasonable price of $130.00. It is now selling at a cost of $360.00. Mercy!
I have been through eastern Kentucky quite a few times at my old job making deliveries of water treatment chemicals to the coal mines. I had to look up Viper. Glad i didn't have to drive to that town its way down in the holler."As the youngest of 14 siblings, Jean was one of ten girls who slept in one room of the farming family's farm house"
"Jean recalls that when the family acquired a radio in the late 1940s they discovered that what they had been singing was hillbilly music, a word they had never heard before."

I've driven through it a few times in my old toyota truck when I lived in Carolina. Eastern Tenn, Western Caroline, WV and KY all come together within 100 miles there.I have been through eastern Kentucky quite a few times at my old job making deliveries of water treatment chemicals to the coal mines. Great Lp. Solo a capella.
Thanks for the update Lou. Hope he can get back here soon.Just a bit more info for those interested. Blitz had been taking a battery of powerful drugs to help his CVS. He has checked into rehab to help him get off the drugs. I don't know anything more but I hope to find out more soon. I will try to keep you informed.
Desert island disc!FOH, I consider this album to be Neil's finest. What's your opinion?
Yes agree. It tracks very well and is VERY good for footfall and plith isolation compared to enything else I ever herd in my wood floor place.
Very tough to isolate. Very tough (Trumpism there). Maybe it's the tonarm wiring? Do TT board caps go bad? Maybe it just needs a really good cartridge?
I would very much like it to replace Sony PX-60 that has (I think) better sound overall but is a "big" table I could move.
Both are EXTREMELY complicate under the hood. Look close enough and maybe see an early 8 bit chip in there methinks sometimes.
Any ideas what works best with these 70's Duals? I believe it is capable of alot more than she has now.
I have searched everywhere but the dark web to get ideas so far.
Beautiful rig!
The Dad of Black and Viking Metal
Spinning Bathory's debut album. Super low-budge recording and all instruments played by Quorthon. From this album spawned many influential black metal bands. I'm also a big fan of the albums "Under the Sign of the Black Mark" and "Hammerheart" which is one of the bands Viking metal albums. Definitely recommend this classic album though, punk influence, LoFi, thrashy, and evil, mmmmm...
