Take care Dusty!
Actually, FOH, I traded it in for an ADCOM preamp and amp. I was looking for more wattage. Not my smartest day. However, in the end it turned out all right; I'm very happy with what I now have and presently I just spend money on the music.
Not a much better choice of music than what I see at my local BestBuy. Really sad.
I missed it!
I would have brought some of my friends too.
Thanks P-man for showing us that seldom seen minor alcove in the annex to the second sub-basement of the main floor of the P-man LP archives.
Nice R to R!
Seriously, I need to do this as well.
It would help the wife and kids in dealing with all the stuff.
Seriously, she will be a mess if I die first.
Our boys will have to do all the estate details.
I really need to put it all in writing to ease their way through the estate clean up.
When I first saw Curling, I thought how great it was.
It is a form of chess on ice.
A lot of thinking ahead, on top of the precision of the curling.
A thinking mans game, that is for me!
Word to that. Maybe even 0.5 Ohm... or a closed circuit short. The A-10 Warthog tank buster of amps. Unkillable.
Not sure it needs more than 125 watts or so but it's sure gonna have to have at least 5-6db of headroom.
A used AMC (IE: NAD engineers who started their own outfit) 100 watt amp on the way that's supposed to be stable down to under 2Ohm and ability to provide over 30 peak amps is on the way. We will see how long she lasts.
More 80's stuff while researching what to replace the Vifa 3/4inch tweeters with next.
Ribbons i put in fried so they're in the trash and ($700+) JBL horns are out of the question for at least another year.
The beauty of the "poor man's JBL" is that the LE12c driver already carries its own LE20 2in paper cone tweeter (with its own XO) that has decent midrange but drops off rapidly above @10Khz. I've never disliked paper cone mids really, but always thought they sucked as high end tweeters. That's where a bomb-proof tweeter comes in. JBL made their 70's cabinets super heavy duty and real-world workable for experimentation with different drivers as needed. Just a round hole cut in the baffle.
Any suggestions out there what a good 8Ohm tweeter is out there that'll handle 50 watts or so? JBL's aren't super power hungry as are Infinities and EMIT-R Kappa's are all 4Ohm afaik (I do love EMIT tweeters).
That album is very special, great channel seperation and overall SQ, and great playing. One of my all time faves.
Pretty cool... thanks for sharing. Welcome to AK and to the thread
Take care man and same to you.
Will the judges be encouraged to tip?.....
Your post brings me to a question sir....
I’ll be spending portion of My weekend finally cleaning my records (a whopping 60 or so) with the Studebaker record cleaning machine that I bought this week.
My question for all of y’all with those amazing collections , is how do y’all organize your collection? Currently I have them arranged alphabetically by last name. But I’ve been thinking about separating them by genre and then alphabetically..... was thinking would make it quicker to find album. I know my meager collection doesn’t take much time to go through to find one to spin now, but my goal this year and going forward is to focus on adding to it a good bit now that I’ve got my equipment set up the way I want
It's great to know that help is always available if needed
I’m seeing a weekend night challenge coming up here in the thread
