What does this mathematical symbol mean?

i is not just a mnemonic for the square root of -1. The coefficient of i is the Y value on the complex plane, e.g., a complex impedance graph. In electrical engineering, the symbol j is used in place of i to avoid confusion with 1, especially when handwritten.

its a little more complex than that (pun intended)

In EE, the planes are I J K, not x y z. And, in ee, 'i' is current. It is a mnemonic. It could as very well been the symbols from Zep 4. But they invented this shit before Zep 4 came out...

....and I forget all that...

All this time I thought zep was a cleaner, zombie escape plan or a big sammich... :dunno:
