Charles Mingus - Better get it it in your soul
Hank Mobley / A Caddy For Daddy
1966 Blue Note
2016 Blue Note (reissue; 180 gram)
Bought this album at the "Half Price Books" 50% off sale yesterday, with my 50% off coupon!
Picked up that album a couple of weeks ago. Chaka Khan does a really nice job singing jazz! My copy is a German presssing. It is a really good album!
Just got the 180g audiophile reissue of this today...I'll be spinning it soon.
Yeah, I was really surprised by her performance. I expected her to sound more R&B or Funkish but she totally channeled some of the old school Jazz singers and mostly nailed it! I wouldn't have known it was her if I only heard it. There were a few parts that she seemed to overdo but I can excuse that since that isn't her normal style and they were just a few spots. It really was a good album and I've always been a fan of pretty much all of them so I was psyched to hear them all on the same record.
That's what this one is. Don't know what, if anything makes it audiophile, but it does sound damn good.
Claus Ogerman Orchestra / Gate Of Dreams

Produced By: Tommy LiPuma
Bill Evans quote "Claus' "Gate Of Dreams"; a reminder of finer things". Says that on the back cover.
Could've said it better!
Not too long ago there was a discussion of this album on one of the playlists. When I found my album I thought to myself "Here's that album they were talking about!". Was so happy to see it's a German copy!
Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 / Ye-Me-Le

There was a piece on the 9 o'clock news just now to the effect that there is to be a Record Store Day special of Floyds Interstellar Overdrive, so I dug out my copy of Relics on budget vinyl.

I got this Chuck Berry album from a guy a couple of weeks ago for free when I bought several albums.
