What surprise have you pulled out of your collection lately?

Ain't this boogie a mess
Digging through the stack of LPs, Elton John's 11-17-70 caught my eye. It had been awhile since I listened to it, and I had forgotten how terrific a performance Elton put on in that radio concert. It was definitely worth brushing off the dust.

How about you? Have you pulled out an album that made you wonder why it took so long to get it back on the turntable or CD player?

Little Feat "Hoy-Hoy!". I'm listening to it tonight for the first time in too long.

When I was single and out for drinks with friends, my future wife came by on a date that wasn't clicking for her or him. We were all part of the same crowd so the two of them joined the rest of us.

I started talking up this new record I'd bought, and somehow wound up asking her: "You wanna come over and listen to the new Little Feat record?"

She said yes, dumped her date and left with me. A little later we were married, and then we had some kids.

And that's how "You wanna listen to Little Feat" took on double meaning in my house.

I just went through my LPs and built a Discogs collection list. In going through it I rediscovered a lot of albums I forgot I had and plan on listening to them again. It's like getting new music all over again.

I felt like some vintage Hawaiian music. I found it's like now by The Vandals inside the jacket and inside that jacket, I found Yesterday by The Beatles.

I listened to Ahmad Jamal "Crystal" on vinyl the other day and was surprised once again at the punchiness of the bass/kick combo on that album. The funny thing is I listen to it all the time. I think I subconsciously associate the smoothness and fluidity of Jamal's piano playing with that album and continually forget about the underlying punch.

Saxon's "Strong Arm of the Law" is one incredible metal album.

Bob Dylan's "Highway 61 Revisited" is one I should listen to more.

I've been discovering and rediscovering a lot of music since I started commuting five day's a week.

Just discovered I have 2 Jeff Beck~Live LP's and the orange label Epic I just found sounds better that the black & blue label one I had been listening to

I have the Classic Records copy of Casino Royale that's 45 RPM on 4 disk. The recording quality, the remaster quality and memories of a easier time just had me glued to listening to it and playing tracks over and over this weekend.

This vid is even very good and you can here the quality that the poster put into recording a record.

James Cammack really shines on the bass on that recording.

Great story.

On a very early date with my wife, we were listening to music, I handed her an LP and asked her, "Have you ever listened to Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark?" She responded, "No, I have never even heard them in the light." Keeper!
