Junk or good? opinions welcome
Audio Technica AT-LP120 USB, but looking at all the beautiful equipment I've seen in this thread, feeling a little insignificant at the moment. Time to save up some for Vintage kit...
Micro Seiki BL21
Dynavector DV 20X
Bought a Music Hall 5.3 last year. Like it very much except for the dust cover hinge comes loose easily, and not having a removable headshell is a pain. Also changing to 45 rpm requires lifting the platter and resetting the belt. Minor complaints other than that a good table.
Welcome to the AK turn table forum.
It is not unusual for members to have more than one turn tables for convenience or other needs.
Thanks! Good to be here.
I'm definitely toying with the idea of another table... But then I wonder about getting different speakers, phono stage, amp etc. It never ends.
Just replaced Ortofon blue with a Grado Gold cartridge which is why I was whining about the non removable headshell.
Well Tempered Simplex with Grado TLZ, and Systemdek IIX with Linn Akito2 and Grado MCZ. WT is battery powered Simplex has ceramic bearing upgrade
My Hammertone Garrard 301 turntable with SME 3009 II
1) Modded Rega: GrooveTracer subplatter w/sapphire thrust plate, SRM Motor Isolation Base, Tangospinner precision pulley + Opal belts, AudioMods V micrometer arm
2) Daul 721, restoration by DualCan
Kiseki Purple Heart NS
Anyone with a Dual DD model should give consideration to replacing their MM with a LOMC. Replaced a V15III and was floored by the improvement. Noise floor totally disappeared, the Apheta 2 proving impervious to induced noise from control electronics. Consequently fine detail resolution greatly improved, taking the Dual to a whole new level. WRT to the Kiseki took a bit of a chance as no opportunity to audition, but happy to report the reissue is fabulous.
Nice to see another Audiomods owner. I think this an amazing tonearm and better than my previous SME Oracle 345, which is a $3,200 Tonearm
Six or so months ago I switched from my good Ortofon 2M Blue to my not in use Goldring Eroica LX LOMC on my Dual 604.It now sounds almost as good as my Music hall 9.1 with a dynavector 20x2.sorry 2M blue not going back.Cheers
My old Shewood turntable is broken. Im looking for a cheap turntable. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
whats your budget ?
Maybe $100 - $200? Is there an online store that sells pre-owned TT's? TiA!
PRO-JECT ESSENTIAL 2 is a good table, u can get one used on ebay for around 200-260
PRO-JECT primary - u can get one new for around 200-240
Audio Technica LP-120-USB that goes for around 230-270
At 15 I found a portable turntable in those "Antiquity for sale" shack inbetween two villages that must have been from the 70's from the color and the design of the front speaker. The sound was not great but damn it looked cool. Gave it away, still regret this.
But this discovery made me fall in love with the sound of vynil so as soon as I gave this one away, I purchased two very cheap ones during my 20's before finally listening to my heart and try to get my hands on something that would be worth talking about.
Got a Technics SL-1100 two weeks ago that I have mounted with a Shure M97xE cartbridge. Since that day, I've been listening to all my vynils that I have collected in the last 15 years just to hear them with the amazing sound these beauties produce together.
(pardon my poor english)
