So there's another thread up regarding what new speakers would you buy if...?
I'm just not familiar with the better new speaker's out there as I don't consider a trip to Best Buy in my best listening interest. And we just don't have the local mid fi shops around anymore. So let's take a trip back in time and identify a set or two that we heard and fell in love with but the sticker price was just too high then and may be as well now. My selection is the Altec 19's. Rich kid in my dorm had some and I'll never forget em!

I'd have to have a 5.1/7.1 system based around the big Tannoy dual concentric models, I think the Kingdom was the model I heard.

JBL 4345 or 4355, with additional dual JBL 18" subs, either one or two drivers in each.

Lowther Hegeman's circa 1950-51. Maybe the rarest speakers in the world.

Another vote for Apogee's. My choice would be the Studio Grand.
