VHS copy of White Squall with Jeff Bridges as the Captain of a sailing ship with a crew of young teen boys. Somewhat based on a true story.

"Tony Rome" (1967) stars Frank Sinatra in the title role, Jill St. John, Simon Oakland

Tony is a tough-talking, Bogie-esque private eye who lives on a boat in a Miami marina, and gets involved with a rich family who happen to have a wild young daughter. Pretty standard cops `n robbers fare, I like it for the "Slice Of Life perspective" that shows what life was like in 1967 Miami.

Manchester By The Sea. I turned into a blubbery softy watching this. Hard to believe that I'd think an Affleck should get an Oscar but if Casey doesn't get it for this, he's getting robbed.

Casey may be a better actor than his bro.

The Chaser (2008), a film directed by Na Hong-jin starring Kim Yoon-seok and Ha Jung-woo. A well-made film about a serial killer with good black humor twists.

Steven Spielbergs' Amistad a period piece based on actual events of a mutiny by illegal slaves on an illegal Slave ship in the late 1830s. Most of the movie is based on court trials.

"Gone Baby Gone" (2007) stars Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman

Affleck and Monaghan are small-time, blue-collar private investigators from a poor part of Boston. They catch their first serious case when a neighborhood woman hires them to help find her 4-year old niece, who was kidnapped several days earlier. They quickly realize that they`re in deeper water than they`re used to, but deal with it very well. Nicely scripted and directed by Ben Affleck. 2 snaps up !

Finding Dory - a little bit of a let-down from the original and very dark

Green is Gold - Not a bad flick about a kid forced to live with his brother after his father goes to prison. He learns how to grow weed.

I read the book before watching the movie. I love the movie, but I would really recommend reading the book.

I like the scene where the prisoners are walked from the jail in Marseilles (Mar-sales as we call the town in Illinois) down to the dock.
