What was the last movie you watched?

Oceans Eight.

Too long and pretty tedious. The original movies were smart, slick and funny where appropriate but sadly this latest outing is none of those things . The last half hour, the actual heist, was ok but the buildup was just too slow. I'd give a generous 5 / 10 on a good day.

Did the commentary make the movie even better for you, or was it a distraction?

No, not really a distraction, since I had watched the movie probably 3 or more times I found the commentary very interesting/enlightening.
Now, I would not run commentary the first time that I watch a DVD(my only movie source, by choice, as no outside provider is desired).
With well over a 1000, and monthly increasing BR DVDs, I have plenty to select from, and find revisiting them, if commentary is available, can be very informative & entertaining beyond the original offering..

Christine (1983)
(Keith Gordon, John Stockwell, Alexandra Paul)

A nerdish boy buys a strange car with an evil mind of its own and his nature starts to change to reflect it. - IMDb

I haven't seen this one in quite a while so I decided to watch it again last night while flipping trough the channels. Pretty cool movie, makes me want to read the book (Stephen King).

A different kind of love story. ;)

Recommended.

Tuesday evenings BR DVD selection was the very funny R rated 1995 Movie(at least to me) : Get Shorty.

Great cast, starring John Travolta, Gene Hackmen, Rene Russo( Yum, Yum !), and Danny DeVito.

With a handful of well known supporting actors & actress, directed by Barry Sonnefield.

I`ve had this BR DVD for nearly 8 years in my collection, and I pull it out ever so often for a 65 minute enjoyable laugh at the sleazy business nature of Hollywood`s movie making.

I hope to remember to watch it with commentary next time.

Hotel Artemis - thumb up. Really not bad. A little more "story" than the John Wick movies. Jodie Foster was masterful as the old woman "Nurse". Dave Bautista was really good as her orderly. Charlie Day did a nice job being a prick delivering some good lines. He's kind of one dimensional as an actor, but I liked him in this. I didn't know who Sterling K. Brown or Sofia Boutella were, but they held their own. Goldblum and Quinto were alright, not enough of a role for either of them. Actually way too many people in the movie now that I think of it, but I'll bet they had fun. So did I.

I just watched Jurassic Park last weekend. Chris Pratt is still looking great.

Jurassic World

Man, time flies, Chris Pratt would have only been 14 when Jurassic Park was came out.

And it isn't fair, they didn't give the other side anything to look at for the movie. I was certain it was going to end up with Bryce Dallas Howard being an android she was so stiff for the entire move and Katie McGrath was hardly in it. And (spoiler alert) she got the death sequence that a villain should have gotten for some reason.

Gringo - a funny, outrageous ORIGINAL movie with David Oyelowo, CharlizeTheron and others -
was a Netflix disc rental 4 stars ... Nigerian underdog in a Chicago firm gets sent on a business trip to Mexico,

Mr Deeds
Have dismissed this movie for years but had 2 hrs to kill so I endured a harmless, ever so charming tale starring Adam Sandler and Winona Ryder.
I only watched it for WR but sadly it was not her best effort.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Not since the original version of Casino Royale has such a great cast been wasted in such a silly movie. Unwatchable if you're over 15 years old.

Sicario (2015) starring Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Benicio Del Toro. An idealistic FBI agent is enlisted by a government task force to aid in the escalating war against drugs at the border area between the U.S. and Mexico. Del Toro is my new favorite bad(good) guy as his portrayal of this character is chilling . Very violent scenes but the movie never really developed the characters.
