"What's Pioneer in My Rig?"

Just about EVERYTHING!

Lots of SPEC stuff, enough to put together at least five 7 component racks. As you can see in my avatar, a full SX-XX80 series stack and I've doubled up on a few of those. I also have a lot of the SX-XX50 series recievers and at least 30 of Pioneer's top five cassette tape decks from 77-81. I've been selling quite a few of my receivers and have been concentrating mostly on the SPEC equipment as of late. I also have several of the RT-707s and quite a few Tuners as well.

Follow the link to see a few of my Pioneer items:

New-Old HT use of Pioneer CS-801 speakers

I have a great pair of Pioneer CS-801 speakers from the 1070's that have horn tweeter and midrange drivers. Here they are in a temporary set up in my Home Theater. Normally I use VMPS RM-30's driven by 400 watts from a Cinipro amp, but in this setup they were driven by an AES SE-1 Signature 300B amp with 8 watts. What's old is new again.

Rick,

What do you think of the VMPS?

I know a guy who has the 626Rs and absolutely raves about them. But recently, I saw a dissection of the speakers and was quite disapointed in the internals. The guy who tore them apart just flayed the speakers too, but he was selling mods for it, so...

I was interested in knowing your take, and if you have yanked the drivers from the cabinets....

Sadly he dumped the really rough article. I know his approach was really poor though and turned me off from ever wanting to do buisness with him... and I mean Danny at GR, not brian at VMPS

JA-R1S-racks
JA-R2S

HPM-1500
i still hope to have the EXCLUSIVE P3 table, C3a preamp, M4a class A amp
and M5 monoblocks.

I have a gorgeous Elite VSX-99 in the HT. I have a pair of HPM-900's in the stereo in the family room, driven by the 200 wpc Denon POA-2200 off the Luxman C-383 preamp.
I have a Pioneer PL-540 tt not in use.
My Phase Linear P-530 speaker systems are from the Pioneer era when Pioneer owned Phase Linear (although the drivers have more the look of TAD drivers which began around that time).
When I first got into stereo I was a Pioneer guy. SX-828 with CS-88A's then later added a pair of 99A's.

I feel a bit of an under dog with my gear::
TX-75 Tuner
SR-303 Reverb
RT-707 R2R
CT-F900
CS-603 Spks

other gear:
harman/kardon Citation 16A
Marantz 2230
Teac AN-180
NAD 1020
Dynaco PAT-4
JVC XV-S65 DVD/CD
Fisher ST-510 Spks

But, I enjoy it

I have a set of...

CS-R700s fed by a MC 2505, and a Marantz 2238b used as a preamp. My sources are a Luxman PD-121 with an Infinity Black widow tonearm, stanton 681 cartridge (soon to be replaced with a Denon moving coil), NAD 5325 cd player.

Pioneer SA8100/TX8100 amp/tuner combo w/ SG-9 Equalizer, RT-707 RtR deck, and a CT-F850 Cassette Deck. Also find occasional use for SX-850 Receiver. :D

I have an sx1250 reciever
2, 45A dvd players
one 47a dvd player
and a pair of modded R700 speakers.

Receiver and two-way speaks...

SX-3600, currently planning to make use of the AM stereo out jack and build the decoder they probably never made.

Pioneer CS-G35-K and a pair of CS-X300-K surround that I think are blown as they give a broad frequency range on the label but sound worse than an 8-transistor radio.

Sx-950

Wayne, have a SX-950 in the closet in need of a little work. I believe the tech that worked on them said some switches were bad and he couldn't find any to repair it so it has been sitting for several years.
In your opinion is this a good sounding piece and worth repairing? I'm not bad with a soldering gun but am no tech. Have built a few amps from kits and such and repaired some(with much hand holding). In fact just got a Sansui 9090db going for a friend with the help of some members here.
I didn't realize there was such a large group that enjoyed old SS gear. I've also a Mitsubishi DA-M10 and DA-A15DC combo that someone gave me years ago because it didn't work. Maybe one day they'll be running again.

Thanks, Randy
