Wish I'd found two of them....talk about a flash back to the 70's.......
Electro-Voice Sentry IIA’s
Sennheiser HD 598 for $60
Vincent PHO 8 Phono Preamplifier
Looks cool, but why name a phono preamp after noodles? Really sloppy point to point wiring?
A bunch of records.
First time on this thread--really impressed by what you guys have been getting. Anything under $50 on local CL gets my attention for sure. Picked up a pair of obscure Optimus 1100 towers for $20; very good condition and they sound decent. Also bought an older Paradigm sub for $35, and it is excellent. Amazed what is available for the price if one spends a little time looking at what individuals are dumping.
Got these Sennheiser HD 202 for less than 10 cents. They sound pretty good .
Picked up a pair of Goodmans EE-65 speakers at my local Habitat ReStore. These bookshelf speakers are monsters: 33 lbs each and less than 24" tall. Unfortunately, they require a bit of restoring, but they supposedly are worth it.
Sokeris dac1321 R2R DAC
Pair of late 60's/early 70's Realistic MC-1000 speakers...perfect condition, sound great... $20. Even have the little black plastic covers over the RCA jacks.
In the fine AK tradition, based on condition alone, I gave the seller twice what he was asking
I see the surround didn't age as well as the box.
Ear pads to rebuild my daughter's headphones.
Rotel RB-976 Mkii from auction site.....I said I was going to invest on acoustic panels before buying more electronics but I am not sure what happened ..I had a moment of weakness.
A second OPPO UDP-203 CD/DVD, player bought two weeks ago, as a backup for the one in my HT.
It`s in use at the moment, playing my WAV. ripped music from a SATA to usb 3 adaptor connected to a currently 960Gig. SSD.
After swapping out the OPPO 103 that was doing the same duty in the sunroom.
Hopping to get OPPO to sell me a UDP-205 this summer, if and when, they become available.
I have a feeling that RS (or Rat Shack as we used to call it) will soon become a hot commodity. Not because it's gone, which is sad, but because the stigma of the brand made things like Linaeum tweeters (spelling?) a bargain. The Minimus 7 was really the only exposure I had to RS budget awesomeness but I'm sure that there are many hidden gems in that old catalog.
OHM C2...2 days ago
You may well be right, Those 1100s were either $199 or $249/pair in 1996 or thereabouts which surprised me after I finally found them in one of the catalogs. That was quite a bit of cash for a tightwad like me, and I certainly never would have paid that much. Probably not that good but someone thought that value was okay. I went through the entire thread here on Realistic/RS posts and couldn't find a single reference to the 1100.
Picked up a pair of Rectilinear Lowboys from FB Marketplace for $100. OMG! They sound fantastic. Still have the original, almost 50 year old caps, and it still sounds good.
The plastic lattice grills are ugly. I am going to replace those. Also, one of the pedestals has water damage. Other than that, they are in great shape. My Advent Legacy IIs are history.
The picnic table was about as far as I could carry it without a break.
