Which speaker make/model are you currently using with your McIntosh integrated amp (please also list integrated model)?

Way back when I used my MA 230 with a 12" stephens and Oxford horn in a Davis Helmholtz resonating cabinet, then with a Altec Coronado, and then a Pair of Altec Carmels. We had customers that used 5100's 6100's and 6200's with everything we sold from Boze 901's , to Altec, B&O, EPI, Ortofon, Bozaks frrom bookshelf to Symphonies and Mac ML-1, 10. Even a few JBL and Ev's were powered by Mac integrateds. I preferred the MX-110 with choice of 225, 240 or 275 depending on the requirements of the speaker. The 225 and a pair of MC-30's was vey popular with the Klipsch crowd, and remain so today. MX112, 113, 114 and 117 were real popular, too. But nothing like the 110. Its was the pinnacle for tube sound a lot of people thought. The Z version was avery smooth sounding unit. If you want the system that is the epitome of tube sound combine a MX-110 with a pair of MC-60's with a pair of Bozak Symphonies for great sound from the 60's. The receivers were popular , too. The 1700 and 1900 were our best sellers. I liked the 4300, too. Though I have heard most of the later integrateds none have really set them selves apart in my opinion. Maybe the 8000 would be an exception , but I haven't spent any real time auditioning the unit.

But if I owned a pair of XR-7's, 19's, 20 or 22's, ML-4's and was short on space, the MA 8000 might be the perfect match. The ML-4 and XR7 were strong performers with MC 2300's and I'm sure a MA8000 would be a real step up in grace and feyness.

Most recent pairings have been with AR2ax's and JBL L20ts with my Mac1900 receiver. Plenty of power for those with nice separation and staging in a near field setup.

I'm using an MA6600 with Revel F32s.

Prior to the Revels I was using Snell type EIVs, but both sound great with the 6600!

MA2275 with RDL Acoustics S-1 ( Roy Allison) , well that's the pairing this week anyway. :)
I don't use the 2275 often , Its in the process of finding a new home ( but may not happen until well after the Holiday).

MAC6700 and it has seen Paradigm Studio 20's, Cornwalls and now running Focal 836Ws. All of these three sounded good but the Focals just sounded best for the stuff I listen to.

I'm using a pair of B&W 805N's plus a Velodyne HGS-15 sub with my MA7000. I've had the 805's since 2000 and have never had any desire to replace them. I remember when the 805's came out in 1999, Stereophile magazine placed them in their 'A' list for speakers, but later dropped them to the 'B' list. Priced at $2,000.00/pair, I figured Stereophile lowered the rating because they weren't expensive enough.

I agree a MA230 is a totally different animal than a MA 8000, but not so different from a MA2275. With Mac having offerings from 100 to 300 watts they full fill the needs of all but the least efficient speakers which seem to be more prevalent now days.
