Why I Rarely Re-Cap My Vintage Receivers

So the question remains, should I send my 70 vintage MX112 in for a recap just on general principal? About half of you guys say yes and half say no.

If the cost is not an issue and your tech can realign the tuners properly, it's worth considering. Otherwise no.

Recapped HK670. I thought it sounded better afterwards. Picked up a HK450, it's little brother. 670 definately has more clarity. But it depends on what equipment and your ears.

Speaking of recapping, I have a Sansui AU 517 I bought around 1977. It has been used a little in the past 10 years, but has been in storage on and off for the last 20 years. I want to find someone who could check this unit out and recap if necessary and whatever else it may need. There is a loud hum coming from the phono section, not the turntable because it isn't there with my other receiver. Can anyone recommend someone I could have look at this, knowing I will have to ship it? Thanks
