Any information on sellers or plans for a wood cabinet for a Pioneer SA-8500 MkII?
I too would be very interested in something like this for my SA-7500. Apparently they were available from Pioneer back when these amps were made. I've seen photos, but I'm guessing that they are quite rare. I've yet to see any originals for sale on eBay or anywhere else.
Sawdust, but he doesn't make that many per year. Someone could probably make a nice living making walnut cases for all our gear.
I have made approximately 250 cases for AUDIOKARMA Members in the last 7 years no money to be made making cases more of a service I was willing to provide for AK members , You would half to make 3 or 4 times that many in a year to make a living making them, I did enjoyed making them for AK Members over the years maybe someday I will start making them again.
I own one of Sawdust's Pioneer cases. I'm hopeful he will return to production someday. They are so good I consider them art.
Were the original cabinets from Pioneer solid wood, wood veneer, or vinyl veneer? I'd certainly be interested if Sawdust starts making them again.
He is currently looking for more Walnut to make the cases. They are solid and I can verify he does exceptional work. I have one of his cases on my SG-9500 EQ and one on my P-D70 CD player (this one is more of a cover that just slips over). Both look beautiful!
The original Pioneer cases where plywood veneer and some where particleboard veneer and some where vinyl veneer they did not offer solid walnut.
All the Pioneer cases I make are solid walnut, I did a how to thread on making a SX1050 case out of solid walnut you can see it here http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/pioneer-sx-1050-new-case-project.764720/
Thanks for the info. I must say that your work is exceptional!
