WTH refoam material

Saw this while cruising EB. What the heck did they use to refoam?
Here's the description
It all works great but was refoamed very wrong.
Can't argue with that.

They make thin sheets of packaging foam we use them where I work to
wrap finished parts for shipping.

It looks to me like they may have very carefully cut out some circular rings
out of this thin foam material and glued it in place, maybe it does work. :idea:

The problem I have found is not all speakers have re-foam kits available so
it's great that someone may have found a way to save their great sounding
speaker from the difficult task of trying to replace it with another speaker that
sounded as good as the original with the other drivers in their speaker enclosure.
 
I recently refoamed a pair of AR-48s that were using that same stuff as a surround. The guy used so much glue on the bottom side of the woofer, I had to install the new surrounds on top of the cone rather than underneath like stock. The whole process annoyed me, but I was a little impressed by the former owners creativity. I wish I had taken pictures.
