Yamaha A-500 question

heya folks.

So, I finally figured out why one of my channels wasnt working and fixed it, I need to pretty the job up still as I was strictly in troubleshooting mode till a few minutes ago.

so, I have a question. its more of a "what if" kind of thing.

I know on paper this amp is for 8ohm speaker loads, but my question is, has anyone ever run 6ohm loads on one of them? will it survive high(er) volumes on such a load or this entirely a bad idea.

I *really* want to crank those onkyo e-200's I got the other day up and see what they're capable of.

I dont know that it has one.

another thread on here talks about the AX-500U having the following

Minimum RMS per ch 20hz - 20khz .01 thd 8 ohms: 85 W
.015 thd 6 ohms 100W

modeling is similar and it looks similar to mine. but i dont know how different the insides are.

A-500 or AX-500?
I will say that if the amp is in good shape, it will run 6 ohms. Keep an eye on temperatures though, and don't use it for club duty.

mine is an A-500, and the tuner I have for it is T-500, thats why its so easy to remember the models (amp 500, tuner 500)
