Yamaha b-3

I was reading the description of yamaha b-3. The best v fet maybe?

It say it is class A up to 1 W. IS that possible I thought all v fet ard class A amp.

I can't see any mention of class A in the brochure, but those who have heard all seem to suggest the B-3 is the better sounding of the vintage v-fet pieces.

Don't know about best though, there is a modern version of that amp (inspired by the original B-1 and in the shape of the B-3) made by a company called Digital Do Main in Japan. It's called the B-1a and at the heart is the purpose-made 2SK77b, and the early stages are also v-fets (similar to the B-1).

You can read about it here if interested:

I am also tempted to buy the last Yamaha amplifier which incorporates their SIT transistors. They say that it sound surpasses the B-2, but who will have the two (B-3 vs. B-2 ) to make a fair comparison I don't know... The B-3 is only Japan version 100V, has one single trafo, one single pair of FETs/channel, 27000 micro/63V smoothing capacitors, 16.2 kg.
There are some members which own B-3 here on AK. Maybe they will be kind to shed some light on this topic.

there is only one comparsion so far, hopefully tjere are many more japanese review on this lost treasure.

I was wondering instead turning i on to connect in BTL can we connect XLR out on to it , we will connect to the speaker according to the correct polarity.
If that is doable yamaha b-3 would probably be very ahead on his time creating pesudo balance amp topology.
