Yamaha CA-2010 or CJ MF-2300

Hello folks, I'm wondering if there would be a sonic upgrade from my Yamaha CA-2010 to a Conrad Johnson 2300 power amp.

Yamaha 120W
CJ 240W

Powering some JBL L112 speakers. Comomg from the 2010, no uptick at all, very little uptick or worthy successor of the the Yamaha 2010?

I've never heard the 2010 but have owned some of Yamaha's better preamp and power amp combinations(C2x and B-2). Nor have I heard the 2300. I do know that the various models based around the CJ MF-2300 are held in very high esteem. If your Source component was excellent and you had a great preamp to mate with the CJ, I tend to feel that you would realise the greatness of the CJ.

With a good but not great Source and a good but not great preamp, the difference between the two would be less obvious.

Give it a try. Plug the CJ into the preamp outputs of the Yamaha and listen to the difference in amplifiers alone since you are using the same pre. Then get a good preamp for another step up.
