Yamaha CD-820 with a broken flywheel

Well, that's what the ad on Craigslist said. I wonder if it just needs restringing. If so, is this a big effort requiring special tools or can a fairly handy person manage? I'm offering $25 for the thing cause the "left channel is a bit murky" and needs a lamp along with the "flywheel" issue.

Thanks

Service manual should show you how to restring the dial cord.

Is that a CR-820? If the tuning knob is broken off, you might get one from a broken lesser unit.

Yes, it's a CR-820. I am a bit worried about the seller saying the "left channel is a bit murky". Murky just isn't a technical term I'm familiar with. I offered $25 so might pick it up for $30.

Sounds like the tuner needs restringing. The photo shows the unit with a knob.
