Yamaha CR-2040 Tuner Issues...?

I need some advice on my Yamaha CR-2040.

I haven’t used the tuner section on this piece much and just realized that the FM section does not really pull in many stations. Most of the missing stations on the 2040 are in the higher half of the FM band.

I have a CR-1020 that gets everything just fine in the same room with the same cheap-o antenna.

Is there an adjustment that can be made to the tuner?

Note: I have know idea how these things work and have no test equipment, but if it’s a couple turns of screwdriver……..

Tuners are pretty difficult to DIY. Your best bet would be to find a reliable shop or individual to do an alignment/repair.

First thing, go to the Tuner section and look up the sticky on cleaning analog tuners. Takes only a few minutes, can make a huge difference. I have done it on a couple of Yamahas and it really helped. Will do my 2040 at some point even though it is doing pretty well, it will probably be even better after.

"First, try cleaning. If this doesn't work, you'll need to bring it in."
