Yamaha NS 10 restorable cabinets?

I have found a pair of these speakers for sale. Have been hankering after a pair as a Yamaha fan and for its Iconic status. Would like to use it in my home office. Seller admits cabinets not in good shape so just checking on opinions for restore possibility. I have seen posts of folks who "copy" the cabinets and just reuse drivers. The price is roughly $100.00 converted from ZAR. Some tips on what to check for other than sound quality - all drivers work apparently.
The speakers are in a another city so I am not able to inspect them myself and my friends in that city are not audio folks.
See pics
Thanks very much for your opinions

I've seen cabinets that were far, far rougher get fixed up nicely by some of the guys in the speaker forum. For $100 I'd be all over those especially if they are on your list of speakers you want. They don't look bad enough that you can't listen for a while and if the damage gets to you, look around the speaker forum here for ideas on how to repair it.

Before spending extra money on-top of buying the speakers,
it would be a good idea to sum up the potential cost of a restoriation,
and compare it to the cost of a NM set of NS-10.

It can often get more expensive than one would think to begin with.

Pulled trigger two weeks ago - fairly happy with speakers as the position I placed them in hides the worst cabinet blemishes. Except for slightly edgy treble on bad recordings I am very happy with the purchase. Pics to follow. Its the best bookshelf speaker I have used in a long while. I like the cabinet finish and also the quality - it is solid, resonant free and each ways 6.4 kg. Using it with NAD 3020B in near field desktop application. Lots of detail and even good separation of instruments and voices, "soundstage" nice as well.

I am enjoying this speaker. want to try it with my M35 as soon as it is repaired.
