I have a set of these Yamaha NS-30a's and love them but they are ugly as the cabs were made here in Canada in the late 60's.
So i plan on making the cabs vertical like the classic NS-30 from Japan.

Here is a good audio blog about these rare and wonderful sounding speakers...

weeeeiiird maaaaaaan. That looks like good quality stuff. What is the material the large cones are made of? Does everything work? I have some 890 speakers, no woofers for months, was just about to give up. I had one on the tailgate of my truck, loosening screws, "Oh well, somebody might need these tweeters. You knoooow, I better check one more time.", and there was a pair on Ebay. Those look odd, I'd bring those back also.

Yes they work/sound excellent! The woofer/sound boards are made out of some sort of polystyrene it seems. I'm gluing up the new cabs right now. I chose rift sawn ash veneer cabs. I will post a pic soon.

I finished both cabs today now i just have to give them a coat of lacquer. Mostly built from ash with a little fir.not fur lol They are a big improvement over those Canadian built speaker cabs from 1967.
