Yamaha NS A-700 Popping

hey guys, I was told I should post this problem here.

I have an A-700 that I love so much, forgive me because I don't know much about audio, I am pretty sure there is a simple solution but I have taken this thing to small audio places for repair and they told me the cost would easily surpass the unit's value.

I get random pops where the music cuts out completely, sometimes for hours, not cured by a simple unplugging or anything like that.

I have replaced the fuses, tried different outlets, very thick gauge cabling, different speakers (still 8 ohms), and the problem persists.

I am ready to start learning about servicing amps and this would be a great project for me as it is not my main amp.

Thanks,
Jess

If you have a voltmeter, check for DC voltage at the speaker terminals. Connect your meter, select an unused input, set the volume at zero, select the appropriate speaker pair, and power up. After the relay clicks in, you should see a very small voltage, no more than a few millivolts.
