OK, thank you Patrice. I was just asking because of the bad reputation of the VD1212
DC Board 2/2
The first thing to do is remove the glue
I have some Epcos MKP in "my stock", so I've put them in place of the original films caps
and I've finally changed the electrolitic capacitors
and that's all for now...
VD1212 only have a bad reputation because people confuse them with the Sony VD1221 that definitely has a bad reputation.
Good to know! Thank you.
Bottom side. Before:
Power supply caps. UCCs are exactly the same size as the originals. Epcos are somewhat shorter. Easy to fix.
New lamps just installed. They are smaller than the originals (3mm vs 4mm), but they will do the trick.
MD Board. General cleaning and new caps
Bottom side, before and after:
Beautiful work! Looking forward to seeing the finished product and getting your listening impressions! Where do you live?
Thanks! Boards DA/DB and DC 1/2 still needs to be cleaned and recaped. The aluminium parts are going to be anodized this week. I live in Spain.
DC Board 1/2
New caps installed:
Botton side, before and after:
Disassembling the meters
What I would give just to borrow your driver boards to test my amps.... Nice job!
Meters cleaned and polished. They look brand new!
Very nice ! Can't wait to see it back together and like new
To get rid of the scratches, this time I used this:
And it works really well. Look at this scratched area near the "100w" text
2 minutes later:
