Successfully added pre-out's via a 2 pair RCA block with help from a friend.:beerchug:

Tied in just after balance pot to neg. cap leads c578(r) and c577(l). With two pair rca's, amp and stereo subs can be driven.

For those with interest in more power than the satisfactory 85W.;)

Hmmm. Tested today and could only get 1.4v max.(IIRC)

May end up building a buffer stage with another opamp in line to boost output.

    With direction, of course.

Testing today with a recently purchased QSC MX-700, 150w@8ohm, 225w@4ohm, and a sensitivity rating of .96vrms (8ohm). Happy dance for being able to clip said amp!:beerchug: I may hold off on building a buffer stage.

Amp sounds damn nice with this R-8, except for the fan/chassis hum. Can't complain too much since the outlay was only $40.:)

Have to mention the Boston A60 series II are some nice sounding loudspeakers in this room with a little help from an older Kenwood 8"sub.

Forgot to mention that I also acquired the remote for the R-8;)

Let me see if I remember how.

I suppose I would have to post pics of a RX-V1 to stand alone 6 ch. amp project also.

Looks nice but do the "accessory" jacks on the back not serve as a pre-in/pre-out?

Truly the one thing I dislike about some Yamaha products is that. Those jacks I believe just are between the selected input and the preamp. Pretty useless for most folks. The next model up and it's cousin the RX-1100u had the normal pre-in/outs though.

My theory is that they used the accessory jacks because they sold separates at the time and wanted you to buy those instead if you wanted to run a power amp. I can't think of any other reason not to move it down a bit, past the volume control and make them normal pre in/outs.
