I have a Yamaha Rx-V2500 amp that has Digtal optical inputs and outputs.

What I wat to do is Run my Computer which has optical output (toslink) into my yamaha to take advantage of the yamahas internal DAC and to power my outdoor speakers but I also want the optical signal to be sent through my Mcintosh MX 119 DAC for my main listening area.

Would this be possible or is the digital optical out intended only to go to recrders?

you should be fine.... it should just in theory, pass the signal along. the recorder wants the same pcm/digital signal that the DAC does. so same diff. cheers!

it should just pass the digital optical signal along to another dac, or whatever you want really. no shorts, cause no actual electricity is used. just light travel.
