Yamaha T-85 Normal/High Level outputs

My T-85 has 2 outputs at the back, Normal which gives .5v and High Level which gives 1v. The manual recommends Normal for regular use. Many tuners do not give their output level but 1v does not strike me as extreme, my little Pro-ject Tuner Box gives out .775v.

Has anyone played around with these outputs on a T-80 or T-85? In my case both work fine for my desktop speakers but the High Level works much better for getting my SMSL AD-18 to drive my rather difficult 300 ohm Sennheiser HD540.

I will move to the High Level once I fix the one that is cutting out. Just wondering if anyone else had a situation where one worked better than the other in their system.
