well my pioneer sx 50 is breaking down it makes a popping sound out of the speakers and then all of the lights on the unit go dead for about less than 1 second any advice and would this damage my speakers.

Just a hunch, but I'll bet it isn't too good for them.

sounds like a power surge in the output section, or from the power supply. If it's making your speakers pop it will cause damage.

o well looks like ill never be using that reciever again it going out on garbage day its not worth anything anyway im making room for another reciever its going to be a laffeyett

Give it away here in AK. It's not anything special but somebody may want it and it's better than pitching it into the landfill.

I agree, I'm sure an AK member would appreciate it. Post it in the classified, say exactly what you think is wrong with it, and that no reasonable offer will be refused. Post a pic too if you can.
