My last concert was the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The one before that was Stevie Ray Vaughan & Co (no intro band needed). That was probably one of my most memorable ones. It was a free outdoor concert (spring of '86) for the college students during spring break, and I was right there at the stage, which was about 2-3 ft above ground level. I could have reached out and touched the band members (we were standing). Just to put things into perspective, I think the biggest event I ever attended was the Eagles, with Jimmy Buffett as the intro band (outdoor concert in Houston). The SVR concert was a much smaller event in the college quad (up close & personal). Many thanks to SVR, and thanks to the university. That concert left an impression in my memory banks.
The last concert I went to was to heat Boston and Styx, which was held at
Cochata Casnio Resort in Kinder La. in Nov o8, had a blast, but the buses
left the casino late, because of all the people, which caused us to miss some
of the Styx set,
Last Night we went to see Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers Free at the Glendale Jazz&Blues festival. WOW really a great concert. Enamored pretty much all night. He can really play! Then he breaks into Hendrix`s Star Spangeled Banner OMG!! The flag above him was silent all night. Then he started playing this and the flag began to move and stood straight out while he played ( an absolutely excellent rendition) JIMI must have been pleased.
Must have been a lot of music in Arizona this weekend. We went to the Tempe Music Festival, there were some bands that i didn't really care for, but my son likes them. We got there at noon and got home around midnight, long day, but we had a good time. :thmbsp:
My wife just sent me an email telling me she picked up tickets to see the great Irma Thomas @ BB King's on Wednesday night. :tresbon: One of my favorite female vocalists. If you aren't familiar with this living treasure of New Orleans music, pick up: Live! Simply the Best. recorded at Slim's in S.F. So many highlights on the record, Oh Me Oh My, You Can Have my Husband, Hip Shakin' Mama, oh hell the whole record is great!
